Youth Basketball

Beginning in 2018, WYSR will begin to offer a coordinated basketball league. Levels
will be as follows:

Co-ed K-2nd Instructional Program (Reg Closes on Nov 23rd): This program will be

instructional only, focusing on small group skills and drills. Depending on number of
participants, we may break out by age groups, but the focus at this level will be to teach
basics and build a sound foundation of basketball skills.  Sessions will be 1 night per week
(what day is TBD), beginning after Thanksgiving break.

WYSR Teams -- Pinnacle Hoops League:

  • Girls 3rd/4th
  • Girls 5th/6th -- Not offering for 2018 --
  • Boys 3rd/4th
  • Boys 5th/6th

These teams will take part in the Southern Tier Pinnacle Hoops League. Teams will play home and away games at times provided by the host team, because of that, days and times of games will vary.

Player Registration and Coaching Applications should be submitted by Nov 2nd, this is a hard closing date as our rosters need to be submitted to Pinnacle very shortly thereafter.  Practices will begin for these teams in the second week of November pending Windsor School District gym availability. The Tip-Off Classic will be held on Nov 17th at Johnson City K-8 School and All Saints. This a one day event, where teams plays three shortened games used to evaluate them to make the league schedule.

The season has two sessions in which we will participate.  The first session runs December 3 - December 16.  All teams will play 4 games in that time.  Scores will be recorded and any changes to divisions will be made over the holiday break.  This allows teams who were placed improperly in December to be placed properly for the remainder of league play.  Then the second session runs January 7th - February 17th where all teams play 12 more games.  Teams play comparable opponents, some weaker and some stronger.  The goal is player development NOT winning!

There are two levels that our teams could be placed in after the Tip-Off Classic, Recreational and Competitive.  The biggest difference between the two levels is in the rules and style of play.  Recreational is focused on the development of the players only and less to little focus on winning of the games.  Competitive, while STILL PART OF AN INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE, has rules that allow more advanced game play options and have scores kept.

Registration Fee for all players (including K-2nd) will be $25

Registration Closed for Grades 3rd-6th
