Parent Code of Conduct & Commitment

  1. Obey all rules and regulations of the Windsor Youth Sports & Recreation Program.
  2. Refrain from giving the children instruction during a game – allow the coaches to manage the team and the game.
  3. Refrain from visiting the benches during the game, unless you are assisting by monitoring behavior of younger players.
  4. Ensure that your child is ON TIME for practices and games, as well as promptly picked up when they end.
  5. Remember that children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, not yours.
  6. Teach your child to always play by the rules.
  7. Teach your child that hard work and honest effort are often more important than the outcome of the game.
  8. Help your child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game. You child will then be a winner, even in defeat!
  9. Do not ridicule or yell at your child or other players on the team for making a mistake or for losing a game.
  10. Set a good example. Children learn best by example.
  11. Do not publicly question an official’s judgment or their honesty. Accept the official’s decision as final and respect the fact that they too are capable of making mistakes.
  12. Recognize the value and importance volunteer coaches. Give them their well due respect, because without them there would be no youth programs.
  13. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth sporting activities.
  14. If you have a problem/conflict with anyone or any aspect of the game do not approach them during or after the game. Instead, contact the League Director to discuss the situation.
  15. Accept the coach’s decision regarding playing positions and playing time.
  16. Understand that the WYSR reserves the right to release any player from the team for poor sportsmanship, by the player and/or family members or for other reasons to include but are not limited to: lack of corporation, poor attitude, lack of commitment, effort attendance, or questioning a coach’s decision.
  17. Understand that the removal of your child and/or the player’s family from a game will result in a (2) game minimum suspension for the player. During the suspension the child is still required to attend the game in uniform and sit on the bench for the duration.
  18. If your child is dismissed from practice, the coach has the discretion to suspend the player for up to a maximum of 2 games for each dismissal.
  19. Understand and acknowledge that the player registration payment is nonrefundable. If a child is dismissed or voluntarily leaves a WYSR league parents are not entitled to a refund and all monies will be forfeited to the program.
  20. Understand that the coach may impose additional rules, guidelines, and/or policies that parents are required to follow and failure to comply with any of the above is a violation of your commitment.

By registering your player for any of the WYSR Leagues, you agree to help make youth sports fun and help teach our players good sportsmanship. You are agreeing that you understand and will abide by the above standards and have read and understand the policies set forth by WYSR .
